Violent crime is on the increase in America’s hospitals and medical clinics, according to a recent report from an independent health care oversight group. Medical facilities are experiencing serious incidents, including assaults, rapes and homicides, and greater security is vital to the safety of staff members, patients and their families.
A report issued by the Joint Commission, an independent health care oversight group, attributed the increase of violent behavior to an upswing in drug and alcohol abuse and a lack of adequate care for psychiatric patients.
Security cameras can monitor emergency arrival bays, waiting rooms and lobbies, parking structures and lots, hallways, labs, treatment areas, information desks, pharmacies, loading docks and other areas of importance. Also, an IP-based system can provide access, if needed, by law enforcement personnel.
